The buildings I have seen, are always made of stone and extremely well detailed with very high ceilings, tall pointed spires and lots of arches.
Gothic architecture features in many or most Gothic texts and is described as being a dark and creepy place where bad things happen.
When I Imagine Gothic architecture I immediately think of all the supernatural beings that may be lurking in the dark corners of the gigantic castle.
Gothic to me means dark, scary, spooky and weird which is why I associate the dark, scary, spooky, weirdness of Gothic architecture with Gothic literature.
